Family tourist
The Rio da Madre concentrates most of the families with children of Guarda do Embaú. It’s a freshwater river, that runs through the cities of Palhoça e Paulo Lopes and flows exactly towards Praia da Guarda.
At most days the Rio da Madre has these shallow and calm waters, but it’s important to follow the orientations of the lifeguard and move away from dangerous areas.
At many spots, there’s no danger, not even the current, but there are places with deep holes, strong currents and rocks, which may surprise children mostly. Avoiding these places, that are clearly demarcated by the lifeguard, you can enjoy it without worries!
Tourist dating
Guarda do Embaú, despite being a rustic village, has all the needed comfort and infrastructure. Couples wishing more comfort and some special moment, can enjoy accommodations with impeccable structures, bedroom with a bathtub, good food and even massage!
At night, restaurants and bars offer varied menus, seafood, Japanese food, snacks and typical menus.
The most romantic lovers can still stroll in deserted beaches and very uncrowded places, even in high season. The walk through the shore for example, leads to almost always isolated places, with the exception of some seagulls, owls and, eventually, turtles and penguins that are showing up.
Adventure tourist
Hiking is the first attraction for who likes adrenaline on vacations. The Pedra do Urubu stays on top of the Guarda, a 30-minute ascent trail, that leads to the most impressive view of the beach. Besides the Pedra do Urubu, there’s also trail option to the Prainha (1 hour), Vale da Utopia (2 hours), Praia do Maço (2 hours), Praia da Gamboa (2 hours), Prainha da Pinheira by shore (3 hours).
Other options at Guarda are sports, the beach is perfect for those who like surfing or even sailing a kite in the waves. At the Guarda’s shore left- hand waves are formed with spectacular tubes, and in the middle the right ones. In Prainha also are formed right waves with south undulation, and the water is very clear!
The sportsmen can also practice the Boulder at the Guarda do Embaú’s shore. There are places of all difficulties and locations with climbing hooks. At the Pedra do Urubu, there’s also hooks to practice abseiling.
The flying ones can see the Guarda in its best angle, it’s just paragliding in the region of Vale da Utopia. Pay attention at the spot, it is difficult to access, please inquire before you go. During the season, eventually you can fly double paramotor, that leaves from the beach and it’s for tourist. Availability depends on weather conditions, mainly wind.
Party tourist
In high season there’s party for everyone! The Guarda is filled with beautiful people from all over Brasil and the world, let the flirt rides!
If Tinder doesn’t give good results, enjoy the bars with live music from the Rio da Madre. The music is varied, but is usually between Reggae and Rock, with musics from Pearl Jam, REM, the Rappa, Bob, Charlie Brown.
High season starts on the weekends of november and december, it has its peak on new year’s eve and the first weeks of january. On carnival is also busy, but a little less. After the carnival, the weekends keep up, while there’s still heat in the south.
November and march are usually good months, for the heat is strong and the prices are weak. You can enjoy it by spending less!
